buttons with flowing in background onRollover

i want to create a menu for a website, not sure whether this would relate to action script or not tbh...

i just want it so that when i hover over the buttons, a white background would come in from the right, and when i roll out of the buttons the white background goes back to right.

would it be action script? would i need to have a mask? how would i go about doing this? :)

No need to go for mask
just have background colors as a movieclips.

And Make visible which one you want using script like

whiteback._visible=true;
