My Sample (http://www.pinome.com/3dsample/test.htm)

I think flash isn't quite there yet in terms of producing 3d games using 2d graphics because it slows down tremendously. Flash is only capable of simulating old games.

I might be wrong though, any comments?

Well, I've heard of good Flash 3D engines, but yeah, ActionScript 2.0 is way too high-level to do that kinda stuff well.

There are some pretty good 3D games in Java. Although I don't really know the details behind coding 3D graphics, to me, it seems that Java would make way more sense than ActionScript, since you don't really get the advantages of Flash from making 3D games in Flash anyway.

I don't think these guys can be beat. You need Flash 9 Player though.

Pretty sure they have the only really good 3D engine out there. I've seen lots, but they've all been pretty crummy.

Yeah, I can't wait when it goes to open source so that I can try it out :)

I think if you get on their mailing list you can get beta releases of it...clearly the source is being shared with some people...
