lets all make a game as a project...
...
i will put the fla files on a website and we can all download it then work on it then email it to me and ill choose the one that has the best improvment then they will explain how it was done and then ill put the new one on the website and we can all work on that and so on untill we have a good game ill put the final swf and downloadable fla on a website with our names in the credits but first we need an idea, what type of game will it be; shooting, other, puzzle, driving, rpg "might be hard", etc. and then we will need to explain what we well do in the game then we well start working on the fla file which
i will post the downloadable fla at
http://albert.teleinc.com/game.zip/
and the swf file at
http://albert.teleinc.com/game.swf/
email me your updated fla file at staticoolio@yahoo.com

ok i dont know why no one is responding but i think this would be a good project for the members of actionscript.org to make a game but first we need an idea for the game anyone?

ur idea of making a large game with a large amount of people (the actionscript users) is a a good idea, the only real issue it A: getting enough people to help. and B: getting an idea we all agree on.
If at least 5 people (including u and myself) want to do it sure count me in! but seeing as how old this thread was without any replies maybe not... But best of luck i guess.

yes those are reasons why it may not work but another reason is that people will leave because they do some work and someone else does work at the same time and it all goes hay-wire and work winds up being lost and the game eventually will not be as good because there is to much input.

yes this is true as well, however for me this is more of a learning project as im not as good at scripting as i wish to be, ether way if the game is made or not I get somthing out of it, besides I think this is the same for everyone.

I will do it but I am definately a beginner in programming. The main thing in having a group do a project is to give out certain things for one person to do then put it all together.
Give one person a few functions to do then give another person a few functions to do and so on.

i fully agree, the idea of this is to let everyone work on thier strong spots while others do thiers, if we work piece by piece this shouldnt be "too" hard... but i could be wrong. Still dosnt hurt to try.
so drumn4life0789 u say ur a beginner at programing, is there somthing u are good at like animation? or somthing, if not thats cool thats what learning is all about.
There's this old saying I've heard, that the number of cooks is not always positively correlated with the quality of the soup.
The largest group I've worked with on one game was three people. Two programmers and one illustrator. I had already worked with the programmer on other non-game projects, so I knew how he thought.

so rrh your in? If so sweet theres our group.
I am a programmer im "okish" at itbut like i said before this game will help me learn, but dont worry im not a n00b ive made a few games that run well.
Animation... im not so good but I hope one of us is.
My ideas for a team game are, an RTS, an RPG, or a learning object game.
If anyone has any ideas please post them.

The game I.Q looks very interesting and I don’t think its been done on flash before. I wouldn’t mind making a game like this (but we will get more ideas from more people) this is a strong possibility I think. But the only question would be how to do it visualy(becasue flash is d2)

I think this is a good idea.. Im already working on 2 personal games butit would be nice to work with others, im thinking we should make a side scroller game... that has a twist.... We have to decide to do AS2 or AS3.... this could be vital in the making of the game...

Dude, this sounds fun! I'll join in, and so will my friend. I have made a few FULL games, but mostly partial "pieces" that help me put awesome games together. I can also draw in Flash with my tablet, and I can make graphics more realistic. I have also done some animation and can make physics look real. My friend is OK at programming, but has done mostly everything that I have. We for SURE want to do this! Rock On!:)
We think that a Fancy Pants-type RPG/Puzzle/Skill game would be really fun to make as a team.:)

By the sounds of things we have a team :) so now for the ideas stage, I agree a fancy pants game would be good to do like an rpg (not an mmorpg their to hard for what thier worth)

I'm Andrew's friend, so I'm in.
Ok - first things first -- the creator of this thread, Orange Gold, appears long gone (this thread was actually started in 2007).
For any project like this to have any chance to be successful, we first need to get organized. I'll take the reigns. I'm a project manager (as well as soft eng.) in real life, so I do have experience in doing so.
First thing - Everyone interested in working on this project, please PM me an email address you check often, and also how you can contribute to the project. (graphics, programming, sound, story etc).
I will compile information about the team, and then create some google docs. For those not familiar, Google Docs basically allows many people to collaborate and chat about documents and spreadsheets in real time. It's a must have for something like this. The invitations which will guide you through the sign up process (if you don't already have a google account) will be sent to the email you provide automatically when I share a document with you.
And we'll go from there. Sound good?
P.S. AS3 or broke.

I don't know what's with andrew recommending everyone, but he wanted me to join this game. I have experience with server-side apache-mysql & flash, so if we wanted to have some sort of scoreboard or saved stats I would be able to help there. I've been working with actionscript for 2 yrs. now, and have made 2 fully published games. I have many other bits and pieces of unfinished games.
What friend were you talking about andrew?
:) If you remember, I taught YOU flash. :)
Cool, PM me your email Roadkillguy

im ready to take the reigns back... i was temporarily hibernating xD
Be my guest, we had one meeting, but the rest of the people who showed up were immature, and all knew each other which wasn't a good thing. :)
