Hi [ New to Flash/AS]

When creating a symbol, is it possible to define the boundaries - like height & width ?

I dont get how there are mo boundaries.
I was hoping to access is width & height parameters.

Thanks

The boundaries are set in the properties panel (Ctrl+F3), make sure you extend it.
You can do this by clicking the little triangle at the right bottom of the panel.

But it keeps showing the boundaries of the entire Stage - cant seem to change the boundaries of a symbol - while trying to edit it.

When you have no symbol selected, the panel defaults to the stage properties. To see the properties of your clip, you must be outside of it, and select it.

The other reason you may not see height/width is that by default the Flash IDE hides that portion of the properties window. Double click anywhere on the prop window to expand it, then you'll see your dimensions.

I double clicked the symbol (which just has a 40x40 circle in it centered) in the library and when I click outside the circle the Properties shows the Document's properties.

How do I make the symbol 50x50 wide containing the circle ?

Im not trying to edit an instance.

Ok, I thought you wanted just one instance changed, but regardless, it is done the same way, you would just have to double click it (on the stage, or the library), or Right Click>edit, and change the properties using the tab.

Look at the two photos I'm attaching. You would double click on the area highlighted in image 1, to get the tab to show the properties in image 2.
