Mysterious Gone Library Items

There were a couple of jpg and png images in my library that are suddenly gone when I opened the file. I'm working off a server in conjunction with a developer (using Windows). Any ideas? I've already checked the Bermuda Triangle.

If I had to wager a guess it would be that the developer deleted them, or overwrote the file with an older version or something...

I suppose a corrupted file could be to blame, but that'd be a pretty wierd error...

Older versions seem to have the same problems. The images just don't appear in the library! And the layers that use them are blank.
