I hear only good things. In fact I know a girl who has seen it twice already. If chicks like it, it might just be the ultimate action film :)

Yea. I got a chick taking me on Friday night.
Did you guys grow up with the toys are cartoons like I did?
I grew up with the toys, cartoons, all that good stuff...me and my son are going to see it, hopefully tomorrow (opening day here)

Yesterday when I was on Shrek3 I have seen new trailer.
I just can't wait to wath this movie
I saw it last Thursday.
I had fun watching it, but I considered it to be a flaming pile of garbage. From a nostaglic point of view it is worth seeing I guess, but if this were just a sci-fi I had never heard of I would have wanted to walk out. (Think Battlefield Earth bad...)
I am a huge fan too, have been my whole life, saw the last one about 5 times in the theater. This one is just not good....
I'm not going to give anything away, but let me just say that (maybe) about 20% of the movie actually has transformers onscreen. Most of it is was a just a comedy starring Shia. He was excellent btw, and the stuff with his parents was hysterical.
But the serious action/dramatic moments on the other hand were absolutely abysmal. I have never in my life encountered what I saw watching this movie; the audience was literally laughing out loud at the "dramatic" moments...they were really that cheesy and cornball...
Just horrible one liners and dialogue/scenes that literally makes you cringe there so bad... Like watching an army officer tell a teenage boy to stand up against a 15 story robot with nuclear weapons... Or a cop interrogating an obviously innocent teenager by threatening him with a gun ...right in front of his parents, and they don't say anything...
I would say more about why it was so bad, but it would give stuff away, and I don't wanna be that guy. I will say that it was funny, the effects were outstanding, and Optimus's voice is spot on...but apart from that...
The most exciting part of it to me was finally seeing the new Camaro with my own eyes...

Well, thank you for killing that movie for me Noct.
:) Just kidding
Heh, well just because its bad doesn't mean you can't love it anyways...
Hell the guy I watched it with was content just staring at Megan Fox, and I was just as enthralled looking at the new Camaro.
Besides, some of my favorite films of all time are horrible.
Flash Gordon, Tron, Cloak and Dagger, etc...
I couldn't count how many times I've seen Hackers, and it doesn't get much more ridiculous then that...
good or bad I'll see it with the kids.... There are just certain movies that you just have to see.
Oh, no doubt this is a must see if you have kids. I'm sure they will love it, and it definately feels geared towards a childs mentality.
I just thought with that director that it would be more geared towards an adult, or at least mixed audience.
I feel stupid saying that since it's based on a cartoon, but since the majority of us that grew up on it are in our thirties now I thought they would try to hit both audiences, but it's just not smart enough for adults to enjoy on any level other then nostalgia and watching attractive cars, people, and explosions.
But then, I don't know why I assumed it would be anything apart from totally ridiculous given his films so far...
I thought for sure they would go completely adult on it...since most kids these days arent all that familiar with Transformers, not like we were.
Yeah, no doubt, especially since this is definately a throwback to original 80s transformers (and the first movie a little bit), it's not like there are any beast wars references or anything...
The very fact that they gave it to a guy who spent the past 5 years making(bad) remakes of horror films made me expect a much more adult type of feel to it. Theres a couple of sex jokes and a cheap shot at the president, but apart from that I didn't find anything adult about it at all...
I just read that he has already been greenlighted for the sequel to this, and a new Friday the 13th as well. I don't understand why they keep giving this guy rights to things, apart from Armegeddon which was ok on some levels..he has never done anything worthwile IMO...
But on the bright side, Live Free or Die Hard was excellent.
hrm... movie reviews..
i like it. we kinda need that around here. we have a music thread...
thanks noc. i think i will hold off on this one until video. hopefully my kids wont pester me into taking them any way. >.<
nothing worse then a bad movie... thats a bad movie in a theater full of kids.
a bad movie in a theater full of kids, and Ruben....
a bad movie in a theater full of kids, and Ruben....
hahahaha
perfect
maybe we can get ruben to post a review of the bratz movie..... that should be entertaining....

when they stoped going outside and playing kickball, baseball, football, tag etc. and started hanging out playing with psp, wii, ps3, xbox, tv, internet.... while eating their big macs.
:p
I love my video games, but I force my kids to spend more time outside than inside. My neighbors kid is 4 years old and already over the 100lbs mark..thats just insane...and common!
It isn't just the kids, I see just as many adults pushing the scales when I take a walk through any suburban malls...
In NYC itself it doesn't seem quite so bad, but go upstate a bit and you can hear the collective breathing of the herd as they graze in the food courts.
What really frightens me are the teenage girls who are a deuce and a half and still dressing like Britney/Beyonce/whoever.
There is just something so frightening about a beer gut hanging over low rise jeans...

Oh God. I've witnessed that and almost hurled my lunch. I used to live upstate in Albany and all the calf walking around with size 4 jeans constricting their size 8 legs and their stomachs all hangin out.. ugh
Gross.
Weight is a huge issue in this country. I see these photos of guys online that are like "No way that's true." But I've tragically seen people like that with my own eyes. It's disgusting and no one's fault but their own. You can't get to be over 300 pounds without messing up somewhere down the line.:o
haha!

Hah! Exactly man, I see that all the time in Albany.
I agree with the fault as well, this nonsense in the city with restaurants being forced to ban certain types of fat is just outrageos. People really need to start being a little more responsible for themselves and stop looking to blame McDonalds, the size of thier bones, and whether or not their step-daddy loved them enough.

Thank-you! Someone who finally gets it. No one wants to take responsibility for anything. It's all someone elses fault. Some pill, some food, some medication, some genetics.. How about "Drop the fork fatty!" ??
They're banning certain types of fat in the city? You're kidding me... :o
In New York City, transfat have been banned. I agree that, in this country at least, there is some excuse, some syndrome, or mental disorder to excuse everyone from being responsible for their own actions.

How many murderers and rapists are getting off because they were wrongly prescribed some pill or the pill had SIDE-EFFECTS. They say blame the company that made the bills. Blame the doctor. Blame anyone else. Then by the time you do blame them, they go back and say "Blame the person who did it". That's garbage. Viagara or something just as common has possible side-effects of death or something serious like that but you don't see people dropping like flies with boners, do you?
I hate this entitlement that everyone feels now.
At this point in the conversation, I refer all to "BoonDock Saints" and remind everyone
Now you will receive us.
We do not ask for your poor, or your hungry.
We do not want your tired and sick.
It is your corrupt we claim.
It is your evil that will be sought by us.
With every breath we shall hunt them down.
Each day, we will spill their blood till it rains down from the skies.
Do not kill, do not rape, do not steal, these are principles that every man of every faith can embrace.
These are not polite suggestions, these are codes of behavior and those of you that ignore them will pay the dearest cost.
There are varying degrees of evil, we urge you lesser forms of filth not to push the bounds and cross over, into true corruption, into our domain.
For if you do, one day you will look behind you and you will see we three. And on that day, you will reap it.
And we will send you to whatever god you wish.
a huge congratulations to everyone for successfully hijacking this transformers thread... and transforming it to a fat thread.... now, lets supersize it.
as a side note... banning certain types of fat IS a great idea, for health reasons. but dont expect it to make you loose wait... especially if your stopping off at the local home country buffet for the all you can eat lunch.
heh. the real reason most americans are over weight, is in general, we dont exercise enough, and we dont know how to eat balanced meals of the appropriate portions.

Ugh...
No offense man, but seeing things like that makes my blood boil. If you really feel that way, this isn't the country you should be living in IMO.
The day where I want ANY government agency telling me what I can eat, or what a private business owner can serve to the customers that CHOOSE to eat as his establishment is the day I should move to a socialist country.
America became great based on its freedom and capitalism, and I for one would like to keep it that way.
Under you're rationale, we should ban alcohol, tobacco, chocolate, red meat, salt, automobiles, roller skates, paint thinner, decongestant, etc, etc...
They are all dangerous if not used properly too.
I agree with you on one thing though, this thread has lost its topic alright...

Roller skates are dangerous? lol.. Okay then.. :)
This thread is right on topic man. There are plenty of fat people in Transformers.. The Transformers themselves aren't exactly supermodels you know.. Too many nuts, bolts, and motor oil in their diet. They should ban those.
Sorry for that. lol

but under yours sounds like we need no laws at all....let big business do anything they want....
yeah. gov regs get carried away. my point so much wasnt in support of government regs.. i guess i was more meaning to point out i dont believe the intent of the law was for reducing our weight, but more for preventing heart attacks... anyway. doesnt matter
heh... and hijacking is great. this is much more entertaining then transformers.

well tell him to get out of my bathroom and stop wearing my grandma pantyhose
I cant..thats like his thing..
Speaking of the govenator...
I just saw the movie theater version of the Simpsons trailer last night, and they have him as the president.
What a terrifying notion.
Is anyone else surprised with how little hype they seem to be giving the simpsons movie?
After the tidal wave of simpsons merchandising in the last decade, it seems strange they arent jumping all over the film. When the trailer gave the release date I couldn't believe it; its only like two weeks away..

the simpsons died years ago. I think that show is horrible.
Heh, well your entitled to your opinion of course man, but I love the Simpsons, and I think the movie looks outstanding. I agree that its a bit played out thanks to the merchandising, and I don't watch it religiously anymore, but whenever I do catch it, I still laugh my butt off.
That's my whole point about the movie, I don't understand why that marketing machine is relaxing for the first time ever. I would expect 50 story statues of Homer to be erected in 20 cities around the world or something...
Besides, just as an animator/developer, I have supreme respect for Groening. He took a little short from a now forgotten skit show and turned it into one of the most successful animated properties in the history of TV. I believe it is also like one of the longest running prime time tv shows ever, which is pretty cool seeing as how its a somewhat edgy cartoon show about how disfunctional most american families are.

not to mention inspiring many other animators who have successfully created & produced animated shows geared towards an older crowd.
Yeah no doubt, I hadn't even thought of that aspect. Trey and Matt, Seth McFarlane, and Mike Judge should all be thanking him. I would bet they would all have had a harder time getting on tv without the Simpsons.

lol this thread is so far off topic its ridiculous. fam guy puts simpsons to shame though.
Heh, well at least were talking about cartoons that have been made into movies...
Were almost back on track!
I love Family Guy too, but I would hardly say it puts Simpsons to shame. It has a much smaller niche audience, which explains why it has already been cancelled once.
Simpsons has a much broader appeal, and much smarter writing.
Family Guy is pretty much pop references and gay/handicapped jokes. Without Star Wars and wheelchairs, Seth McFarlane would lose half of his subject matter.
Tracy Ullman....Not so forgotten...yes, I know a lot of useless stuff..
