Howdy and Welcome... :)
I think the best solution would be not using Flash which we cannot see happening as Flasher... :D
An alternative to that would be providing an alternative HTML page just for the search engine spider...
a 'flash' website IS wrapped in HTML. just add all information you want into meta tags in the html so that the search engines can read it.....
not ideal, but then trying to get search engines to scan your flash site isn't ideal either....

You could do javascript/flash detection, and if both fail you can serve a pure structure xhtml version of the site (which should be fairly simple since a lot of flash sites are xml driven in some way). This way anything that is crawling your site isn't ever aware of the flash side, it gets served a perfectly (hopefully) structured xhtml version...
That's just one suggestion, I'm sure there's plenty of great techniques to use.

Hi,
It really depends on the proportion of the site you need to be indexed. For most of my clients, they are happy with a single page ranking highly (the page containing the swf) and this is easy to achieve with SWF object. You can concentrate on writing a single Text/keyword rich page which primarily exists to offer search engines more content to index than just your swf. Whilst users without Flash will at least see this alternative content, this single page isn't really designed as a comprehensive alternative to your site for those wthout Flash, but more as a fallback option and primarily to get the page indexed.
The alternative applies if you need those without Flash to have as full an experience as those without (or at least access to the same data), or if individual sections of your site need to be indexable. If this is the case you either need to build a completely alternative HTML version or break your swf into parts that exist in separate pages. Don't forget you can use SWF Object repeatedly within the same page or across different pages.

deconcept's modern approach to Flash SEO (http://blog.deconcept.com/2006/03/13/modern-approach-flash-seo/) is surely a very good reading and probably the best way for Flash SEO up to date. Hopefully, as Adobe announced the development to enhance Rich Media Search on the Web (http://tekkie.flashbit.net/flash/adobe-to-enhance-seo-for-flash) yesterday, this solution is to be obsolete anytime soon.
