hey all, i got a call from someone in Boston that needs a blog by tomorrow! In flash! I asked them to post it here and figured maybe one of you have one already made that you can sell???

They might be able to go non-flash but sounds like they have zero time. So i only have a phone number, if ur interested and have one pre-made, email me david at subquark dot com, or look for their post. No money 4 me, all 4 u (have no idea what their budget is, i'd do it for at least $5k)

Def get some money or contract up front. Good luck!

By when tomorrow? I have about 50% of a flex-driven blog that pairs to an AMF-PHP backend complete, but I'd imagine there would be a lot of design and server integration dependencies that alone would require at least a day or two.

Here's an example of what I have so far:

Still needs....

Search feature
Category navigation
Comment management

Ok....so maybe more like 30% complete =x

WHY?

tell them they can have wordpress up in 5 min and you can make flash content for it.

recreating something that exsists and works fantastic, and is dynamic and flexible and has a comunity of develepers just so your is 'all flash' is kinda just a waste of money.

Oh sure.....if you want to have the generic blue/grey themed look everyone else has (myself included). Anybody that intends to stylize their blog is going to spend a bit of extra time to do so, so how is flashifying it that much different?

The main reason I stopped in my own flex blog experiment was because of the text rendering limitations that Flash 9 still has.

i dont know... i look at it as similar to spending half a million on hiring someone to design a volkswagon beetle, when you can go down and buy one for 13k.

the look of wordpress is only limited to your design abilities.... its easy to change, and configure using a text editor, and some css.

the only reason they are all grey and blue is cause folks are lazy....

oh well... there are a ton of reasons....

heh. doing this for someone in flash will just be job security... :)
next request (from the client) once it is all done will be...
'can you make is searchable on google?' k'ching $$
'can you make is so i can include adsense?' k'ching $$

...

heh.

Surely you're aware that there are many more tags out there than these (http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14808&sliceId=2#supported_tags), right? For one thing, it would be nice to have code tags for displaying actionscript snippets.

@tg, how much more overhead is there in a flash-driven blog that runs off of a wordpress backend? Personally, I think the database, CMS, and backend data-handling logic accounts for the greatest bulk of the wordpress package, not the front-end html generation code.

Well... I take that as MM's attempt to create smaller foot print since Flash is never meant to be the new web browser... Of course, there are whole lot more nasty way to put the samething and I've used a couple of them myself as well... :D

yup. i agree.

but still dont see the benefit or redoing a system in flash.. just to have it in flash.... and i ok with being both dense and lazy :)

some folks like the challenge it represents... and thats the fun of this stuff. no harm no foul.

at the company i work for, our department is so understaffed, that when i see ideas that dont seem to add value but just redo an idea, i just kinda dont get it.

however, if using a technology to ENHANCE something like a blog, then yeah, i think it is well worth the effort. just saw something this morning that i thought was pretty cool, and has some nice potential... that is definetly related to the topic posted.

http://sketch.basement.org/

nice idea i think, with potential for added enhancements.
