View Full Version : Final Cut, VP6 FLVs -- Incorrect Duration?

Here's an odd problem. The new video guy on the job sent me some odd FLVs the other day, exported using the Flash encoder plug-in out of Final Cut Pro. The FLVs reach their end, but then mysteriously keep on playing for a number of seconds.

I can't tell what's really happening, e.g. if there's a silent chunk of audio that's playing longer than the video track, or if the unsophisticated players are just somehow miscalculating the duration and ticking away til they think the video is over.

I've looked at the Final Cut project; I'm no video guy but I've taken some classes, and everything seems normal there. I've tried a few things with the FLVs themselves as well, like using FLVMDI to manually set the duration or using a splitting program I have to trim off the end. So far the extra time remains.

Before further investigation I thought I'd throw this out there to see if anyone has seen similar issues. I'm positive our old video guy exported straight out of Final Cut with no incident. As a solution I'm just exporting movs out of Final Cut then converting to FLV after the fact, so it's not a huge issue, but it's still weird and inconvenient...

As an Avid user, FCP never ceases to amaze me!

Sorry! I know it's no help, but I couldn't resist!
