View Full Version : Huge lag when I use AS to move large objects

I'm making an interactive thing here. I have a very simple object -- just a colored rectangle, but its dimensions are huge -- about twice the width and height of the dimensions of the movie itself.
Whenever I move this object using a simple AS code, the entire movie lags like crazy and frame rate plummets. This is especially true when I play in browser.
Is there any way at all to prevent this? Lowering the quality seems to do the trick, but is there any other way?

Well... That's sort of an expected behavior when you are animating large space in Flash... I don't know of any solution or work-around for that though... I normally try to make the animating area smaller if possible... That's all I could do... You will have less issue with AS3 since it's got more power...

Well going on my solution, lowering the quality:
Is there a way to lower the quality of just one object, or just one part of the movie? Would that work anyway?

Unfortunately that's a global property...

Hmm. Well I don't know if this can help anyone solve the problem, but there is no lag at all when I test this using flash player or standalone.
The lag is only there in browser, on high quality. :P

Flash Player for the web browser and the Flash Player for the standalone are two different pieces and you should not treat them the same...
