The Problem: When I test the swf with the spreadsheet, I cannot see the whole spreadsheet even though I made the stage fit the graphic and placed the graphic at 0,0. I can't understand why.
My Thought: Is there a limit to the stage size? (If so, why would Flash let me put numbers for height and width that exceed this?) I am vaguely aware of a conflict between lage graphics and caching, but I have never heard of a limit to the stage.
Please check my attached file to see if you can see where I am going wrong.
Why this design?
I am creating separate MCs with very large graphics on them (e.g., 1200 x 1800). This Excel spreadsheet simulation has four containers: one for data, one for the header, one for the tabs at the foot, and one to hold a scroll control. I plan to load these to containers on a main swf and provide user control (arrows) that would move the container holding these large graphics within the smaller window. The user will be able to load different graphics (for different pages on the spreadsheet) for each container by clicking on a spreadsheet tab (as in Excel). The user will be able to load a different spreadsheet by clicking on the tab at the bottom of the interface.
I could simply drop the spreadsheet into a holder with a scrollbar, but that won't work because I want to have the headings stationary when the user scrolls up and down, but move when the users scrolls right and left. I could use the startDrag(), but that would impair context for the user.
