View Full Version : Flash Problem - Only paintbrush is showing

For some odd reason, after I published a file today, all my tools are showing up as the paintbrush cursor--whether I open an existing document or a new document--and I can't get them to change back. This wouldn't be terrible if it let me use the selected tool, but no luck. I create a new file, and the arrow turns to a paintbrush. I switch to the arrow, but it's still the paintbrush. And, weirdly, I can draw on the screen, but it doesn't actually create a graphic. Maybe it's the eraser tool, as it creates a white line whereever I draw. Either way, I tried running the Windows --> Add/Remove Programs --> Macromedia 8 --> Repair --> Flash. It said it repaired it, but when I opened Flash again, I still have the same issue.

I'm running
Windows XP SP2
Flash 8
Flash Player 9

All I did before this started happening was publish a pretty simple file. I don't know if this problem is limited to Flash or if it's system wide, but Flash seems to be the only thing that's acting up.

If anyone has seen this before, or know someone who has experienced it, or can point me in the right direction to resolving it, I'd be very grateful. Short of uninstalling the entire Studio 8, restarting, and reinstalling everything (without all my preferences saved), I have no clue what to do...or if that'll even help.

Update: Reinstallation Fixed this.
