Importing Video to a MC timeline - moved from Flash 8 forum

Hi, I haven't had any success in the Flash 8 forum so I gathered I could have an answer here. I also searched the forums but didn't find any solution.

Importing video inside MC

Hi guys,

I have been trying to import video to a movie clip but it doesn't work. I import the video to the library but when I place the flv component in the mc timeline and add the correct path to the movie nothing happens. I can import video to a new fla (and I have tried all different options available to import). The FLV component is created and the path to the video is correct but it won't show. It only shows when I start a blank fla and import the video...why is this?. What am I doing wrong?.

Just to add that i want everything to work locally from my Mac. I don't want to import the vid from any server and i don't want to embed it in the timeline as there are quite a few videos...

The thing is, why does the importing work in a blank fla, in the main timeline but will not work in the timeline of a movie clip?. Am I missing something very obvious...?...please help me, I'm stuck...
