Hello,
Following the Flash MX help files, I'm having a problem getting a sound to play that's attached to the file.
I've created a new "sound" layer on my button's timeline, and put a key frame on the sound layer associated with the button's down state.
The sound plays *almost* to the end, but then the getURL action takes place and moves on. Refreshing the page, the sound doesn't play at all.
The sound is an MP3, 0.8 secs, set as an "event".
Any ideas?
Thanks,
James

so you want the sound to finish before the get url action starts? does the get url happen on press or release?

I figured it out. The sound is associated with the Down state of the button. I added frames to the down state to match the amount of frames needed by the sound and now it works.

My bad, I meant the hit state. I selected it and pressed F5 until their were enough frames to match the sound layer.

it's the first time I hear that u can do this and it works fine. Another solution u can put the get url to the last frame of the sound that is called when pressing the button, so it will onlu be esecuted when the sounds finishes.

I like your idea as well, putting the getURL in the last frame of the sound. I've played around and you can add frames to any of the button states.

if you put the getURL at the end of the sound and the user clicks the button really quickly then the getURL will never happen....will it?

I'm afraid u can't add frames to the buttons unless after the last frame only, so u can't just add another one to the over/up/dowb state.

I think it will unless u give the sound movie an action to stop when pressing another button. So if u didn't do that, the sound Mc will play 'till the end and will do the frames action

You can add frames to each button state, selecting the state frame and then pressing F5 as many times as you need to add.

hey, pls note that u just added frames after the last frame (hit one) not to the Down state.
