I'm trying to make a drop down menu so when you point your mouse over it, a list below it pops out.
The problem is: I want my main button have black fill with a white border and words, and when you point your mouse over it, it changes to a white fill with a black border and black words. How do I do this?!
Whenever i create press f8 while selecting my current button and creating a conguent size button and changing its color, both of the buttons change color. Why is this?
Also, I thought you could use the same button in a library and the instances could be different color and size! That is how you're supposed to create a forest of trees rights?! Someone please reply! I've been trying to make a drop down menu for so long. = (

The only way you can change an instance withough changing the others is by doing it from the outside. Example if you want to change the colour of an instance you cant double click it and change its colour from inside the MC but you need to tint the instance from the outside.

also, if you press f8 with your button selected you will end up with a button inside a button - not a good thing

just make a button, give it an over state and change the colours in the over state
