Hello,

I'm creating a CD presentation with Flash. I've been to the Macromedia Licensing pages and downloaded both the Skockwave Player and the Flash Player. When I test the Shockwave Player exe, I get the Flash 5 player installed. And when I try the Flash Player exe, nothing get installed.

(I'm checking this by searching for both flash.ocx and swflash.ocx, only swflash.ocx is installed on my test machine after running the Shockwave Player exe)

I'd really like to have the Flash 6 Player installed, but it needs to be on CD and I cannot just create a standalone player or an exe for the whole project.

Has anyone else been able to include the Flash 6 Player on their CD projects?

thanks,

- J

If you have Flash MX installed you can find Flash Player 6 Installer on you machine in this folder:

C:\Program files\Macromedia\Flash MX\Players\Release

File is called "Install Flash Player 6 AX.exe" and "Install Flash Player 6 OSX.hqx" for Mac. You can include them on your CD for comercial distribution but be sure to sign licensing agreement here:

http://www.macromedia.com/support/shockwave/info/licensing/

Hope this helps...

Yes... I actualy never tried to instal them from CD on other machines, but I don't see why they wouldn't.

The best thing is to try it yourself, and test it on few machines...

Sorry I can't give you more definitive answer...

O.k. this is what I found.

IE & AOL use an ActiveX control and NS uses a plug-in. They don't seem to be able to be installed @ the same time.

There is a file for installing the flash 6 Player (IE & AOL only) located @ C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Flash MX\Players\Release\Install Flash Player 6 AX.exe
If you have Flash MX.
Again this is the ActiveX control for the Flash 6 Player.

There is another file for NS that you can get if you fill out the licensing forms @ MM website.

The Flash 6 "Plug-in" that NS needs to play Flash 6 content on a windows system is called flashplayer6_win.exe.

I had to do a Browser check and then used document.write(); to put the proper link on my download button.

Bottom line, a stand alone player seems like a much easier way to go, but if you can't like in my case, you need to offer 2 downloads.

Thanks again for the help,
