Socket.connect() + Port

I'm trying to figure out how to connect AS 3 to a database directley.

I'm stuck on this function: Socket.connect().

This function has two parameters: Host and Port.

Question:

What is Port an how do I know what value it has?


I've seen in exemples values between 80 and 1001.
