text mask question

I have been told to make some text which says a persons name and the current date, then to add a text mask over it so I can reveal parts of the text at a time.

I have the actionscript to display the current date my question is how do i add a text mask to this? I can do text mask when I use the text box but I am not sure how I do it when it actionscript.

is there a way to just use the text mask I already have? The task says using a text mask type this text which has name task number and "current date"
