View Full Version : Making 'link' changes within my FLA

Hello

I am new to Flash and recently bought a template which I am trying to customise. Each time I ask the vendor about how to do this or that, I receive unhelpful replies. For instance, I asked about how to do a 'form focus'; the vendor told me they would charge $60 to do it. I have since done this myself, but you get the picture.

I would like to do something else on my site but, again, I have been informed I will need to pay $180 for the vendor to do it which, sorry to say, I cannot pay.

In my Flash movie (http://stevehigham59.7host.com/ASPflash/graphic9.html), I have a 'Portfolio'. When the movie first loads and 'Portfolio' clicked, the visitor is taken to a row of thumnails and a list of links. If you click on one of these links or thumnails you get taken to a larger image with some static text alongside.

The problem I have is that regardless of the image/link clicked, the text always remains the same. This means that I might have a photo of Marilyn Monroe with a text on beauty products alongside. But then I will have a photo of industrial desolation with the same text on beauty products alongside.

I need to change this, obviously, but I am not sure where to start!

Here is a screenshot of the symbol in question:

I have not changed anything here. There is nothing in either the Properties or Action Script panels, and there is only one layer and one frame. If I click on one of the links (please scroll down the screenshot page), nothing appears either in the Properties or Action Script panels. There is nothing in
these panels either if I click on the thumbnail.

I am baffled how, in my movie, I can move from link to link, yet see nothing in my FLA file which shows me how that is done.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Steve

seems like it's protected some how...

When you try to see the "actions" of your menu link it appears in the action panel "Current selection cannot have actions applied to it"?

is that what is hapening?

Hello and thanks for getting back to me.

Yes, when I click on the link Laptop Repairs in the MOVIE I am taken to a differrnt location within the movie.

But when I open the FLA file, the AS panel tells me 'Current Selection cannot have actions applied to it' as the screenshot shows.

Also, in the layer in the timeframe I see no little 'a' to indicate any AS - that's why I don't know how I am able to move, in the MOVIE, to a different location when I click on the Laptop Repairs link. All the other links behave like the Laptop Repairs link.
