Hi People,

I've just completed and tested my flash website and it's all working fine woo hoo!

However now I need to put in place the flash detection for all those people that won't have the Flash Player 8 that I've published my swf to.

I also do not want that horrible 'click to activate' stopping my users from getting struck straight into my site.

Now the last flash site I created was roughly 2 years ago and I used this http://blog.deconcept.com/swfobject/ option to sort out the 'click to activate' issue

However I've been on there this morning and things have moved on since the last time and it's causing me some concern.

I've been reading all the notes on the updated verison of swfObject site here (http://code.google.com/p/swfobject/)

And the description now seem to technical for me? (goon)
It also mentions two different ways of implementing them and also seems to be in an alpha state? (are people using this yet)

One thing that got me really nervous was this quote:
NOTE: We advise not to use the codebase attribute to point to the URL of the Flash plugin installer on Adobe's servers, because this is illegal according to the specifications which restrict its access to the domain of the current document only. We recommend the use of alternative content with a subtle message that a user can have a richer experience by downloading the Flash plugin instead.

ILLEGAL?? My head is messed up now! So I go to the Adobe website thinking that they must have a definative answer.
However that gives me even more options of how to achieve the embed and detect, my head is now well and truely in a mix.
:confused::confused::confused:

Can all you full time designers give me a idea of how you tackle this issue before I go doing anything illegal.

Cheers

Adam
