Ok my name is Nik and I am making my first actionscript 3 website. I have used actionscript 2 years ago but stopped and forgot pretty much everything. This is good for learning AS3.
First I would like feedback and help on how to finish this website. I will make the code available for any item and photoshop elements will be available also. I am not making the whole fla available because it contains some items I purchased and I don't think they want me giving it away.
Website is here (http://www.theofficialvip.com/index2.html)! What is working may change from hour to hour as I test it.
Post in question form if you have questions.
example.
Where did you get the mp3 player from?
Flashden.net (http://flashden.net/item/daudio-lite-xml-mp3-player-as2-as3-xml-/5601)
$6 and it works!
Things I need to address?
1.I need to test it on a PC. I am on all macs and My only PC is on parallels so I can't see if the fonts are rendering correctly.
2.Modify the index2.html page so the swf is higher up on the page
3.Tab index for contact form.
4. Get contact form to work
5. Add validation to contact form.
6. Get text scroller to hide when there isn't enough text to scroll.(may need help with this one.

The site looks very cool. Great color scheme. The loading page could be more active (show percentages, for example, or fill the star with color, or something to show how much longer). The "star field" behind the menu items is subtle and pretty.
Looking at it on Windows XP it looks fine, but that doesn't mean I'm seeing the fonts you expected me to.
I did see an uncaught exception while clicking on "BIO":
TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
at main_fla::MainTimeline/setScrollPercent()
I got a number of blocked popup attempts when browsing the site. Why try to be so controlling. If I click on a link, just go there. My opinion anyway. Especially with all of the photo viewers out there for free why pop something up to view photos?
The contact form allowed me to submit it even if the form was empty. No warnings or errors and it responded with a bogus "Email has been sent". Nitpick: It is spelled e-mail, with a dash.
When you close the loading curtain between sub-movies it might make the user feel more "in control" to leave the menu visible (close the curtains below the menu or behind it). It is identical on every page, so there is no point in hiding it. It does mean that they could change their mind while you are loading a sub-movie, but that shouldn't be a big issue.
It might be better to detect that you are on a given page and change the menu to reflect that, and if I click on the menu link that represents the current page it still cycles as if it is changing pages.
On the home page you have two large photos that just beg to be clicked on to find out who "Quick Money" and "Lex Lito" are, but nothing at all happens.
That's all I can see. Pretty slick.

Thanks a whole lot I really appreciate it.

Yeah as long as it looks correct I am happy with that. :)

That I have to track down.

Ok I see what you are saying. I don't want people to have to reload the whole flash site if they click a link.

Yeah that was one of the things I am currently stuck on is the form validation. Any help appreciated by all.

I should have noticed that. I think I designed it like that for whatever reason in photoshop. Will revisit it.

Would work but it says what page on the bottom left of most pages. It would be nice though.

hmm you are correct. I will link it to the bio section for now. That should be sufficient.

Nice! I read some of the other responses before I commented, and most of what I saw was already here. I don't think anyone mentioned that the YouTube and MySpace aren't working. I'd really like the photos to open inside the flash format - like maybe load them from an xml doc or something straight to where they are. It's annoying to have another page pop up.
I viewed it with IE on a Vista machine, jsut so you know. Great site!

Thanks Freki. I can't believe I didn't have the links working mama wouldn't have been proud. They work now. All my links were http:/ instead of http://.
I did want to have it open inside of the flash file, but I wanted the picks to be larger. I agree the pics being inside would have been more elegant. I also thought if someone wanted to do a interview of some sort they could just grab one of the pics and use them if it was for web.

Oh I am the one on the left by the way. Quick Money. Hard to be a flash website designer and rapper all at the same time. :)

Contact form has simple validation now. If you don't put anything into the form fields it won't submit and shows a message.
