Alright people you've had a crappy day - which game do you turn to to relieve that stress? Which console does it for you? Are you into counterstrike or is solitaire your thing?

2 Games

UnrealTournament (Instagib) - under the guise PsychoBill

AND

Yahoo Towers (Tetris on steroids) - I'm just plain ol Vilehelm there.

I play Unreal Tournament sometimes but haven't tried it online. I suck at counterstrike so I don't hold much hope of success at online UT.

Mainly I just log on to the Net, track down Vile, whinge for a while and then we go penguin shooting. Does the trick every time.

But as you are talking Console Games...been slack lately as men have a certain tendency to get agitated at not playing themselves, yank the controls out of my hands and take over *grr* (at which point I go online, badger Vile, and find a penguin to tease, taunt and poke fun at. ahh. fun.)

Anyhow, my faves: (DC/PS1)

Jet Set Radio
Bust A Move
Bust A Groove
Space Channel 5 (*phwoar* Ulala, me want to be her!)
Vibribbon
Unreal Tournament (in short bursts though as it can tend to make me travel sick *grump*)
V-Rally

Used to love multiplayer James Bond on the N64 (I am a landmine laying, sniping fiend) but housemate moved out. *booo! so selfish*

oh oh and Final Fantasy (wheee!) I lost days and nights and days to that.

Hmmmmm
I've also been playing a new game on my old PSONE that came out about 6 months ago. HOSHIGAMI. It's sort of like Final Fantasy Tactics and Ogre Tactics. But much Harder.

And I'm waiting for the price of WarCraftIII to drop at which point I will destroy 20TonSquirell DESTROY YOU! I KEEL YOU! YOU FAT RODENT! YOUR ARMIES WILL FALL!

But I'm a cheap bastich so that'll have to wait...

Ages of Empire I & II

In the old days, N64 (yeah, Pink!!...) I was a Bond freak too, and I got addicted to Mario and the gang. The racing game? After a night of drinking, woo-hoo! "Gimme da keys!" Also Zelda took me for a while...

Oh, and everybody's seen Swingers, right? Hockey? That was a ritual for me and friends for a while. Yeah, BEFORE the film!!

nothing beats a good old 4 player Goldeneye! those were the days :D Perfect dark was good too, but not quite as much fun as Bond.
tony hawks is good for winding down too (but not on the PC 'cos it goes way too fast).
unreal tournament's ok but it gets boring quite quickly, unless you're doing a net game. the new one (ut 2003) is pretty good, but i don't think they're doing the "assault" mode again :( .

Ahh the N64. I used to love playing Banjo Kazooie with my daughter when she was little. We've swapped consoles since then and now she kicks my ass at Bushido Blade.

The punching bag is a good idea - I've just got to work out whose face to tape to it - any suggestions?

vilehelm
09-23-2002, 12:40 AM
Oooooo. Bushido Blade is a great game! Unfortunately I don't have it anymore. Can't wait to see what that one will look like on the next generation of consoles.

Solitare is too dull, but Mah Jong is fun! I can play that for hours. Bushido Blade ruled, number two wasn't much of an improvement but it was still fun. Games? I'm into them way more than I can afford, thus I am forced to code my own!

It all depends on my mood....

Introspective? If I'm hankering for a bit of roleplaying action I might go on the net and find a MUD (haven't done that in ages). I can't much get into console RPGs anymore... the lack of personal interaction bugs me and leveling up gets a bit tiresome.

Violent? Well, survival horror console games are my solace in that right. The Silent Hill or Resident Evil series are great for whatever console you might have.

Sadistic? Dungeon Keeper II is a classic that has yet to be beaten in the humorous strategy games. I've been waiting for a LOGN while for Bullfrog to get off it's arse and put out DKIII. I have my doubts it'll ever come out, though. *sniffle*

Strategic? Warcraft III all the way!!! And I'll pit MY armies up against ole Vilebutt's any day. You best get the game in your slimey hands and beat it before you go struttin' round me boy. I will OWN you. *unleashes Undead fury on Vile*

I need to find some way to get all my bills paid off so I can finally get DSL. Then I'd pit my mad dying/keeling skeelz up against Vile in a bit of Unreal slaughtering!

So that's it for gaming. It's not my one and only outlet. If I'm frustrated with the world I tend to go out and practice for a while or just do something physical to pour my anger into... like yard work! (bleh) Or draw! Or read! Or write!

NO, NO, NO :

Network your house, load up counter strike, from the half life set (multiplayer only), everyone in their own rooms have microphones taped to their heads, so you can talk, pitch black rooms and everyone with their own music on. You just cannot beat it, you can see each everyone who plays, on your screen and talk, its so damn good !

Grifter:
nothing beats a good old 4 player Goldeneye
So true, just cannot get enough, people say its out-dated, i say its unbeatable.

Regards, sanpple :)

UT2003 nowadays and ChuChu Rocket for DC .. wish we had Sega net here ... wanted to try PSOnline, but alas. And ofcourse some classics ... Any Final Fantasy (for when I have too much time ... unfortunately that doesn't happen any more), Shining Force, Chrono Trigger, Seiken Densetsu (Why does my SNES play every japanese game except Seiken Densetsu 3 ? rrggg ...) ou ... I'm forgetting Samba de Amigo ! Maracas !

Noone plays Mario Kart here ?

vilehelm

Shining Force YAY! What a great game. That takes me back.

20 Ton Squirrel

Indeed, the Shining Force series ruled. I still have my Genesis just for that game... well, that and the old Phantasy Star series (which ruled).

Ou ... don't get me started ...

Too late, you did !

If I were rich I'd buy the Premium Disc for the Saturn (but since it usually goes way over my budget ...) Until then I'll be questing for the Game Gear version !

I'm hoping Shining Force 4 will be considerd (preferably on the Cube, not the X-Box, cuz then I HAVE to buy one ... oh wait ... I already do since Panzer Dragoon Aorta might be a X-Box only .... grrrrr)

Phantasy Star was great too (loved ' Mieu' and ' Wren'), but part 4 was a bit dissapointing though.

Agreed, Four was a steaming pile of poodoo. I'm still fighting back compulsions to buy an XBOX as well... mmmm... maybe for next Father's Day. I seem to land game consoles as gifts on those days... well, more like permission to BUY them or whatever...

I'm still a PS2 man, though. Best damn system. Gonna get my hands on GTAIV! RAAAR!

Do you guys remember those early consoles for playing "tennis" with the analog rotation dials for controls?

The only option settings you had was paddle size and speed. My friend had one and I was SO jealous. Those things must have had about 64k of memory in them. Line that up against the PS2 or the XBox today.

whee!

I found an old NES lurking in the junk room/attic of my old house, managed to persuade the landlord to give it to me.
oh yay!

Have to say it still comes out on occasions cos after a few drinks Duck Hunt still rocks!

Damn I love shooting pesky waterfowl.

Crank that dial on the Wayback Machine WAY back, man... My pop still has an old Casio game console that sports - count them - THREE stunning games: Combat, Pong, and Tennis.

I could never much tell the difference between the Pong and Tennis games, but every time I visit I gotta pull that dusty old thing out. *snicker* HOURS of entertainment.

Ricod
10-06-2002, 02:41 PM
Pong is just a bit before my time ... but if anyone stumbles upon a Galaxians / Pacman arcade machine while cleaning up the ol' attic, I'm defenitely interested in one o those !

Too bas they didn't had color (or faked it, like the Vectrex !), cuz then tennis would be the light green one and pong the dark green one ! Pretty much like they do now. (Yeah, it's Command and Conquer, but without the yellow vehicles ! Ours are blue ! So hand over the money will ya)

Duckhunt has its charm ... except that its not interactive enough ! You can't shoot the dog ... :( So whens the nex Penguin hunt ? And do you get special prizes for every red one you shoot ?

vilehelm

OOOH! I think I see a contest coming up! Best Shoot/Smash/Kill the Penguin game! C'MON it'll be fun!

Hmm... Now I do finaly feel like an outsider here :(

It must have been 15 years since my last game... I remember something called Tetris, but it was too boring. The first (and last) I realy enjoyed was one called "Hobbit" played on my ancient Commodore 128 (you can imagine the interface ;) )...

Saw many around me gaming almost compulsively, but I never realy shared the thrill.

vilehelm

Excuse me? Tetris ... boring? ... GAH!

*twitches*

Are you nuts!?! That game is an electric crack pipe!!!

Rupert

Any of you Mac users remember those early Black and white classics like Dark castle, Scarab of Ra and Zero Gravity?

...oh oh *remembers more* what about the greatest of the all: SHUFFLEPUCK with the Bill Gates lookalike in it?!

Now as I put my teeth in the glass of water by the bed, I gaze at a pile of 512k low density floppies that sit on the shelf next to my old Mac Plus with the extra RAM installed (giving it a whopping 2.5 Meg in total) - it still gets plugged in every now and then - just like my teef...

Ouhh... Shufflepuck was mean. I remember the witch especially. Sexy girl, really.

And Tetris was definitely not boring. I was convinced, like most of my friends by the way, that if a world championship had taken place around 1994/95 I would have won it hands down. Pity is: I still believe it.

More recent: noone plays StarCraft-Brood War? This game really grew on me. I really hated SC I played Terrans, everything has an explanation but when I discovered Brood War and the power of High Templars... Gives me the creeps. :D Playing 2 on 2 on Lost Temple is just... perfect said like in the 5th elements. "She is, for lack of a better word, perfect.

Hell, when I don't have enough money to buy food, I hear a little voice in my head Not Enough Minerals!! Mine More Minerals!!

I've finally gotten WarCraft3 and am strewing my enemies entrails all over the battlefield.

Still my thirst for Squirell Blood remains unquenched!

Do you hear me 20?

I WILL CRUSH YOUR ACORNS!

Anyone remember Speedball ?

DiDi doesn't get turned on by games ? You should try role playing. You be an innocent girl walking in the forest with a red hood and a basket filled with stuff on your way to grandmother and I'll be this wolf ...

"So, where are we heading off to ?" (oh no wait, I'm not a cop)

"So, where are you going ? What's in the basket ? Cookies for your grandmother ? Who lives where ? Gee, that's a dark path you'll nee to take ... I'd better go with you then ... say, that's a NICE hood ... really goes well with your ensemble ..."

oh no wait, I was supposed to be a wolf ...

"Groowwwllllll !!!!"

Anyway Rico, I have to give you credit for discovering something that does turn me on: woods, forests and all in them (never met a wolf though, wonder what would that be like...?)

You guys don't have by any chance some "Forest Simulator" like game that would make me change my preferences?

Ricod
10-13-2002, 01:16 AM
Well, there are very nice woods in many games ! Xenogears for instance, and most Final Fantasy games ...

What feminist version ? Let's see ... the Alien Mothership version, the adult version, the hand puppet version, the Disney version, the Warner Bros version ... nope. Never seen / heard the femenist version.
