Hi as my name denotes I am a newbie so my questions may seem boring and silly to most of you but one has to start somewhere right? Ok I am working my way through a tutorial and I have a little red flag in the first frame of one of my layers , according to the tutorial it shouldnt be there, what is it and how do i get rid of it? Would someone have time to help?

It means you have given your frame a label.
Select the frame and then look on the property tool bar on the left hand side.

thank you so much, it was driving me nuts lol it tells you to label but then the snaps in the tutorial do no depict the lil red flag, I have almost given up on this tutorial i keep getting action script errors even though its typed exactly as it is in the tut, i guess i must have missed something or put something in the wrong spot, oh well back to the drawing board *smiles* thanks again though

I vaguely remember the first time I saw a red flag. It makes you think you must've done something wrong.
Don't give up, just make sure you start with easy enough tutorials and work from there.

Was it a very long time ago? If it had been in the snapshot examples on the tut I would have been all right, It must be difficult writing these tutorials, as I have found so many that are unfinished or skip steps, but thank you for your positivity *smiles*. I thought this was a basic website creation on a flash 8 tutorial site, maybe if i just scrap it and start again I might find where i have gone wrong, I will try again, you will see my silly questions as I progress lol if i progress *smirk* Thanks Jim
