An object
A camera
A stationary mount for camera (tripod)
A lazy Susan (spinning platter with bearings)
A protractor
Photoshop (or any other image editing software)
Flash
Mark your lazy Susan with lines radiating from the center. Make sure the lines are equally spaced. If you want 20 pics from 20 different angles, mark the platter every 18 degrees.
Place object on the platter. Set up camera on tripod. Take a picture. Rotate the platter to the next line. Repeat til all angles are covered.
If not using a digital camera, print and scan your images.
Use Photoshop to remove the background from all your images.
String all images together in Flash to create a looping MovieClip. Use actionScript to control which frame is displayed.
Call all your friends to marvel at your mad 3D skills.

Nice. I just thought of aterrific idea regarding the 'lazy susan'. (Is that really what it's called?) I think I'll use the rotating microwave patter and its wheels.
Cheers for the help
