Hi,
I have made a sort of portfolio of my work which is not online- I use the main 2 browsers (IE and Netscape) to "showcase" my stuff, but this doesn't always work. I use a PC for my work using Flash 5 and Dreamweaver4. I burn my flash movies and html pages on a CD and take them along. So the problem is lots of my clients use Macs. I have, I think for you guys, a simple problem to solve, but for me (a beginner) a real headache!
I have created a film with 2 buttons which should lead to a (I guess you would call) local website using GetURL. These work fine in IE using a PC. Not with Nestcape for either PC or MAC! In IE with MAC, I can use the whole website up until these 2 buttons. Then a hand shows it's a button- but it's a dead end as a link.
I've been told I should probably make Document relative paths to solve this problem, but I'm easily confused....:( How can I do this?? When I click on the crosshair button in the URL and actions window I get under relative paths in Flash a "this" sign ??? What should I do with it? Where do I go from there? Shouldn't there be a path in the window that I could click on??. I'm really a beginner I guess
I tried to change the root folder in Dreamweaver to my CD Drive (G:). I've tried to change the button's Actionscript to the path of the CD ( for instance G:\\websites\site1\site1html )
didn't work- so I tried a relative path of ..\site1\site1html for the button (the site 1 is NOT in the root folder of the original website-but on the CD- one folder above the flash movie with buttons and it's html page)
This is the folder path:
G: \\websites\
then either the site1 folder with it's HTML pages
or the site 2 folder with it's html pages
anyone following me??? Anyway- now all my html pages are all messed up with links going to either my hard disk or to the CD- please help me figure this out- I need these sites to look nice and work correctly!!! I also don't have too many opportunities to try my CD out on a MAC until the important day....
Thanks for any help
Kat
