Hello. This is my first post.
Well, I'm about to create an interactive portfolio and want to have a main swf file 800x400 px, containing samples of my previous projects (950x500 px, or 1024x768 px) that when you click on them to open a new window with their dimensions, so that the user will have two different swf files opened at the same time. Then he can close the sample one and continue further.

I know that to do this, i have to have a folder containing all the swfs' I'm about to use, in the same directory as the main swf. I just don't know the code to do this.
I tried creating a movieclip on the stage and have a code on the buttons to change the movieclip to a specific swf file when clicked, but in this way, I'll have to give my main swf file the dimensions of the largest file (1024x768 px) and plus, it still loads in the same window, which I don't want.

I would appreciate your help on this one.

Thank you in advance
Yiannis

Do you mean you want to open up a seperate browser window?

it won't be uploaded in the internet, if that's what you mean. I will just have it published on a CD.
I want to have a main swf movie, and when clicked on a button, to open a second swf movie; so on the computer screen it will look as you've opened two different swf files.

Don't think you can have 2 instances of the Flash player running at the same time...
Think you'll have to open the second one through a browser window...

Are you talking about a projector file on a CD ?

I would think the easiest way would be to create/simulate windows in your main SWF by loading your external SWFs into a contianer MC that looks like a window etc... within the main SWF.

If your talking about a projector file then maybe look into FSCommand to launch a browser window:

1.) fscommand function (http://livedocs.adobe.com/flash/8/main/wwhelp/wwhimpl/common/html/wwhelp.htm?context=LiveDocs_Parts&file=00001727.html)
2.) Using FSCommand in Macromedia Flash projectors (http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14280&sliceId=2)

I am not sure but maybe even just a simple getUrl call would work also, and call the SWF on the CD.

You might also look into the various 3rd party add-ons for projectors if needed for extra features etc...

Zinc (http://www.multidmedia.com/)
chameleonflash (http://www.chameleonflash.com/)
etc...

I am sure Atomic can tell you exactly what you need. I am just throwing out some ideas ;-)

getURL should work although if the projector file is fullscreen, it may appear behind the projector player...

In any case, Northcode should be the one to answer this... But he only browses the Projectors & CDs forum, where you should re-ask the question, or ask a moderator to move this thread in that forum...

Ok. I think I haven't explained myself properly.
please have a look at this example and tell me if this is possible or not and how can I do it: http://www.actionscript.org/forums/attachment.php3?attachmentid=26961&stc=1&d=1208803235

The "sample1" and "sample2" in the "main swf file - 320x240 px" are the buttons. Now, I want, when your click on any of these buttons to open a new flash player window, like the "sample1 - 640x480 px" and appear on the desktop at the same time.

thanks

I've gone through fscommand function and I'll publish my movie to .exe file instead of .swf. This works, if I also publish my sample files to .exe as well and then put them in a folder named "fscommand" and call them from there.

many thanks for the previous link asf8.
cheers
