View Full Version : Change the stage size
Hi there
A quick question:
is it possible to alter the size of the stage in Flash? I don't mean the physical size of the movie, but the actual stage where the editing happens - is its size set in stone?
Thanks for any thoughts,

you mean while working on the fla?
Ta for the reply...
I mean the grey space you would normally call "off-stage" - I can put objects like mcs out there but obviously can't edit them in place 'cos I can't see them, but they are there 'cos they're behaving the way I've told them to.
Is it possible? Even if I zoom out to the max, I still can't see them?
I realise there must be a limit to stage size somewhere...
Cheers

I think 2880 is the max
flash does have a limit to the amount you view off the stage which really sux...
Cheers Billy. Yup it does suck a bit.
When I zoom out to the max the whole stage zooms out to be a wee grey square up in the top left corner. Now, that means any objects I have offstage to the right I can see and edit them. In fact, there's tons of space there below and to the right. But not above and to the left. Make any sense?
So I was wondering if there was a way to see anything you had offstage that was above or to the left...
Thanks for your time,

when you zoom right out, you should be seeing an equal amount right around the stage....
Yup, sorry, I was being unclear - what I meant was the stage and the grey offstage area all zoom up to the top left of the entire Flash window.
What I'm trying to do is put mcs offstage to act as X and Y placeholders for a main mc that I'm then moving around the stage. The thing is so big that I'm having to put some of the mcs off even the offstage area, if you see what I mean. It's not a huge problem, but I'd just like to be able to see where all my placeholders are. As it is, some are out there in the ether and although I know they're there, I can't see them! Just mean I can only edit their whereabouts with the info panel. Oh well...
Thanks for your help though.
