Hi,

I have this animated GIF generated from a Flash movie, now I'd like to reduce its size, but I have tried many sharewares/freewares on the internet, and all of them damage the quality.

Please, could anyone help me?

Regards,

Well, any program is going to "damage" the quality in the process of compressing it, but the better the program and the more knowledgable the user, the better the results. Image compression involves removing colors and motion picture compression also adds in frame reduction and redundant pixel copying.

Anytime you reduce/compress an animation you must either remove frames, reduce the amount of colors or shrink the overall size of the image.

You get pixelization because the compression programs are taking similar colors and combining them.

Here, I don't have all my software with me at work but I ran it through a few phases of imageReady optimization and produced some much smaller versions. Some of which have less frames of animation.

Ow!

Thanks for your help!

You have done an amazing job.

So, have you used Adobe ImageReady?

I have never used it, what were the settings you played with?

Cheers

NP, glad to help.

Yes, I used imageReady. As for the settings, some of them I removed frames of animation to shrink the file size and all of them were optimized as well.

To optimize in IR, you select how "lossy" you want the image, whether or not it needs to be interlaced, whether it needs transparency, how many colors to use, etc...
