I recognise most of this code! It's by Keith Peters. I don't know if he wrote this particular example but you can learn all about how to do this type of dynamic animation from his book, "Foundation Actionscript 3.0 Animation - Making Things Move!" It's the best book on the subject.

Otherwise you could just download the SWF and decompile it and see how it works that way. This isn't illegal or unethical but do remember not to 'steal' the content though!
