i freelance at work (web design/animation/print media) on the co.'s hardware, using their software, etc., but can't afford to start my own biz at home. someone's offered to buy me all new equipment to start a small biz. the investor will get 5% of my gigs.
what mac is best? the new G4? how much mhz, ram, and all that stuff? what peripherals? monitor? firewire? dvd?
to get started, i need to provide an estimate for hardware...
if you had this opportunity, what would you wish for? any estimates? all input is much appreciated....

dont have the prices (only got an old mac catalogue) but i'd reccomend
dual 1Ghz G4
1GB RAM
the default HD (about 80GB i think)
superdrive (DVD-R and CD-RW in one)
22' apple studio display
iPod 20GB (for backup of course.....;)
OS X.2 Jaguar
that'd cost loads though, a 17' iMac with a RAM upgrade would be fine for flash, and pretty much everything.

i'm in a band too... percussion and vocals for an all-acoustic group that plays music from before your parents were born... way to make me feel old, mate.
