why on earth do so many people in here still use AS2? AS3 is far superior. Now that AS3 exists, AS2 is such a huge joke.
It's true but it takes time to learn and some of us have a pretty big amount of AS2 classes that we need to adapt or complety rewrite. Also, when you have quite a few years of AS2 development experience you can write an application faster than with AS3 if you just leaning it. Personnaly I prefer to take my time.

For such a joke, you sure can code basic functionality a lot more quickly in AS2.

Its real simple, its a matter of choice. You can make technical arguements all day if you'd like, or make open ended statements about superiority, but at the end of the day, its choice. Oh, not to mention the retarded amount of money people have to pay to buy CS3....
No offense but from the question itself we can conclude that you have little experience in the developing business or you would know that jumping on the last technology cost money especially for a company. How easy would you think it is for a company to just dump all the work they have done for years with AS2 to jump right away on AS3, this just can't happen. So it takes time that's all.
