View Full Version : Flash Player, license issue?
Hi, I'm currently working for a company making simple flash animations and applications. One of the main problems I've had is getting flash to play standalone (in windows) on other computers that don't have flash cs3 installed (every other computer.) So what I did was started to send the flash player that comes with cs3 in program files, as I explained to someone earlier in this thread: http://www.actionscript.org/forums/showthread.php3?t=170741
But it just occurred to me that this may be going against the license rights of one user, due to me not being able to find a download of it anywhere. So I'm wondering if anyone knows if this is the case (if possible with a confirmation) or if anyone knows any good freeware alternatives to flash player.
Thanks

Flash Player is freely downloadable from Adobe's site.
just google for "flash player download" and click on first result;
I believe that is just for internet browsers. I have tried installing that on other peoples computers and they still get a blank icon on swf files

Why not use a projector? It's in the publish settings & you'll end up with a single .exe file with nothing else required to play. Normally 3 or 4 Meg bigger than a swf tho.

i didn't install separate stand alone player... just down loaded the latest FP and installed it... it worked for me.. don't know wots the issue though. i think Bombdog's idea is good.

Yeah , I have used this on occasions but it runs like s***, when using fullscreen code sometimes the start bar doesn't disappear, also I use the compression and JPEG quality quite often, but at least you can change the icon I suppose

Did you have adobe CS3 installed though (may be a stupid question)

If you have the browser plugin installed, you can actually view SWFs directly in the browser.

Windows XP (and probably Vista) don't let you run SWFs on the desktop by default. You have to change the settings to allow that filetype to run. Microsoft... :rolleyes:
In your case p0c, I'd look into using AIR. I've installed it and tried it out and it's pretty cool. The user still has to download the AIR player from Adobe.com though. Lee Brimelow has made a couple of tutorials on AIR: http://gotoandlearn.com/
