accented letters

I JUST figured out how to import a message from a .txt file using loadVariables. However, my text contains french accented letters (à, é, è...) which don't seem to load properly in the text box. I tried to type those letters html-style (&eacute, à etc) but it works EVEN LESS.

So... can anyone figure it out for me, I'm getting lost here!

have u tried using the windows (assuming u r using windows) character map?

Hmm I saw this problem arrise for someone else and I think the answer suggested was to have a string "accentedE" then use some wierd string in your text instead of the e, like "ZQX", then search your string for all ZQX (withing Flash) and relace it witht he accetned e...I know it sounds like a hassle but it was the only solution I've seen posted before, I have little knowledge about languages other than English...
