MLB Advanced Media (yes, MLB as in Major League Baseball) is looking for talented and hungry Flash developers. You'll have a true, significant impact on the overall look, feel, and functionality of the entire MLBAM portfolio. Projects will include creating showcase pieces revolving around the "jewel" events of MLB (Opening Day, the All Star Game, the post season, and the draft), live applications utilizing reading and displaying live statistics, data, video, and more. For the baseball fan, this is an opportunity to shape the industry in a big way; and even if baseball is not your thing, the visibility and exhilaration this role presents is hard to find elsewhere. This opportunity presents you with not only the chance to work for a one-of-a-kind company, but to have responsibilities for projects and websites viewed and used by millions of people around the globe. We use the most current and exciting technologies, have comfortable work hours, you'll partner with very smart people, and will be rewarded for keeping your edges sharp.

MLB Advanced Media, L.P. (MLBAM) is the interactive media and Internet Company of Major League Baseball. MLBAM manages the official league site, www.MLB.com, and each of the 30 individual Club sites to create the most comprehensive Major League Baseball resource on the Internet.

As a Flash Developer for MLB Advanced Media, working in our New York City office, your mission will be to utilize ActionScript 2 (and AS3 along with MXML if you're up to it) to build rich Internet applications for MLBAM and all of its properties. Once acquainted with our tools and terminology, you will apply your strong knowledge of and experience with ActionScript and Object-Oriented Programming on an array of varying sized projects ranging from refining existing ones to creating new ones from scratch. We lean heavily on reusable shared code libraries (internal and open source), application development design patterns, and generation of innovative ideas. Your understanding of XML (with a working knowledge of E4X or XPath), source control, and HTML/JavaScript/CSS, along with your background including design tools (Photoshop, Illustrator) and development tools (Eclipse/FDT, FlashDevelop, FlexBuilder, Sepy, SciTe or equivalent) will allow you to approach your role with the right perspective. And your exposure to technologies such as Flex, MS Silverlight (C#), JSP/Web Services, Java, XMPP, XSL, and enterprise-level scalability and caching will give you a leg up as you take on this next challenge. While this is not a designer position, a keen sense of design and careful attention to detail is imperative to your success as a Flash Developer. All that, plus your capability of thriving under tight deadlines and high exposure, will solidify you as a member of our team. Seize the chance to do really exciting work, and to be able to look back on it, have owned it, and be proud of it.
