keeping score based on user, game, or whole game???

I am trying to figure out how to keep track of a users score when they return to the game from a previous play.
I would also like to be able to keep track of the users score over the whole game as well as the indiviual games within the main game..
I am using MX on osX and have NO code so far- really have no idea where to start so anything would be helpful

I think the shared object is what you're looking for, it's kind of like a cookie which allows you to store and retrieve info on and from the users hard drive. There's a tutorial on this site.

ok I checked that one out as well as the one on macromedia and they are a little too deep for a beginner for me..
Is there a place I can find the SharedObject code for keeping track of a users score during a whole game??
