ok, I have watched several tutorials on actionscripting from learnactionscript.com and other sources, and I still feel really confused about what exactly listeners, loadvars, my_mc and all the other "categories" of actionscripting are. Does someone know of a source that can start from the beginning? Something a little more thourough than what stop(); means? Any help on this is greatly appreciated!

I don't know if it helps, but try out the video tutorials from http://codervods.com they also have many videos for beginners. Cheers!

Hi tweek,

Don't mean to plug my site but on www.the-dude.co.uk (http://www.the-dude.co.uk) i started a flash / actionscript basics course yesterday. It will be updated every few days with the next step, so although there is only one post in that section now, it will be great way to learn from the start.

Also, at www.cartoonsmart.com (http://www.cartoonsmart.com) they have a good set of tuts for actionscript, you have to pay for them but they come highly recommended!

What a cool site. I too love to document my progress through learning, I always think that it will make it easier for the person coming behind me.

I am only disappointed that the site is about a stoner....and only because I am a teacher and my first thought was that this would be an excellent site to recommend my students to go visit...alas, that will never happen.

Thanks Peter :) Only the game is about a Stoner, still undecided if there will be direct reference to drugs, or subtle hints as to what he is doing. The actual tutorials themselves are removed from the game and have no reference to this, but i can see your point!

in a school setting, I can see why he would not want to show it to his students, regardless of the meaning of the reference. Good tutorials otherwise though!
