can someone point me somewhere to start with flex 3? like.... from scratch....

Money isn't really a problem, i dont mind forking out for a good book... but of course, if theres a good set of "lessons" somewhere on the net then even better. By lessons i don't mean tutorials where its "do this, do this, voila! your done."

i've "touched" on other languages, java, html, xml, xhtml, AS2.... now i need to learn flex. I wouldnt call my self "good" at any of those languages mentioned, but know enough to get around.

all help appreciated, thanks,

Derek.

http://livedocs.adobe.com/flex/3/langref/
good info on classes

http://learn.adobe.com/wiki/display/Flex/Getting+Started
look under Resources
I suggest:
LiveDocs, and Component Editor

come up with some fun little app and thumb thru the above resources while making your fun app, then when you have a problem that cant be solved from the above sources then post on these forums. Thats how I learnt

I found this book: http://www.amazon.com/Essential-Guide-Flex/dp/1590599500/ref=pd_bbs_sr_3?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1219414116&sr=8-3 really good and with plenty of examples to get your starting.

I didn't read this one: http://www.amazon.com/Learning-Flex-Internet-Applications-Developer/dp/0596517327/ref=pd_bbs_sr_4?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1219414116&sr=8-4 but from what I heard it's a great book for beginners.

I've been working to learn Flex over the past several months as well. An online video learning resource that has helped me a great deal on many, many subjects is Lynda.com (http://www.lynda.com).

For $25 month subscription (which you can cancel at any time) you have access to an extensive library of graphics, web and programming related video training courses. You can also buy the DVDs or books of the same name from them and at many bookstores like Amazon or Barnes & Noble.

Flex 3 Beyond the Basics 8 08/08
