Hi,
I've been reading about the new h.264 support in flash and the new f4v file format, but I don't see any instructions anywhere on how to actually create one of these files? Any one know how to do this using CS3/flash video encoder or any other software?
Am I misiing something major here because all I can find is info on the support of flash 9 regarding f4v rather than how to render/convert video.
Adobe say to do an update but all I get is and AIR update for CS3?
Thanks.

i think if you have a mp4 file (created using an HD codec, eg h264), then you can rename it to f4v and Flash will handle it better?? I couldn't come up with anything better than that, sorry!

I did find some info saying that but I thought surely there's a better way than hacking the file extension
I have found that sorenson squeeze 5 for flash has this capability (for a price) but still cannot find anything from adobe, I presumed that with this hyped release of FP9 that the developer & designer world would also receive some upgrade without having to spend more money on third party software?

Did you find out anything on this? I'm downloading the trial of Flash CS4 now. Hopefully I can use that to encode a video and keep the higher resolution.

Adobe can create F4V files using the adobe media encoder which should come with flash and premiere. You just convert the file there. Set output file to flv/f4v and in the settings, choose f4v.

Adobe Media Encoder comes with Flash CS4, so here are the steps to making an F4V.
Step 1:
http://www.actionscript.org/forums/attachment.php3?attachmentid=32463&stc=1&d=1239762204
I'm going to drag this WMV into Adobe Media Encoder CS4.
Step 2:
http://www.actionscript.org/forums/attachment.php3?attachmentid=32464&stc=1&d=1239762204
This button opens the export options for this video, so I'll click it.
Step 3:
http://www.actionscript.org/forums/attachment.php3?attachmentid=32465&stc=1&d=1239762204
Wow! In this big dialog box, peek at Export options and click the "preset" drop-down menu. Look at all these choices for F4Vs! I'll just click one.
Step 4:
http://www.actionscript.org/forums/attachment.php3?attachmentid=32462&d=1239761401
I'll click the "Ok" button on the Export options dialog and then click this "Start Queue" button and I have an F4V! YAY!!
I'm sorry the pictures are so big! I'm not trying to take up unneccary space, it just did that... sorry!
