1120 error

hi every body
i make a movie clip, call it baby ( the instance) then i go to action panel and i write: baby.gotoAndStop(1); and it gives me the error:
access of undefined property baby. what does it mean?

It means that you have not defined the instance baby. So i'd check if you have spelled everything correctly, other wise, please post your *.fla.
