Hi

I've got a problem importing mp3 files into flash. I'm using flash MX professional and CS3. when I import mp3 into library, some songs manage to import fine while with others I get an error "One or more files were not imported because there were problems reading them". Now, I thought that the problem was the bit rate of the mp3 because songs that were 192kbps wouldn't import while songs with 217kbps imported fine. However I noticed that some songs have a totally different bit rates and some import ok while others don't. Currently I'm trying to import 257kbps mp3 but I'm getting the error. As I never really worked with sound in flash I'm not sure what could be the reason for the error and I don't think bit rate should really affect anything as I couldn't find anything about it in books. I'm also not sure if this has anything to do with protection, but where would I check it? If somebody had a same problem as me, please do share as I would really appreciate it.

Thank you in advance :D

Rather a problem with the Khz at which those .mp3's are encoded at...

Flash can only handle ones that are encoded at/or at a multiple of 11.025, thus 11.025, 22.050 or 44.100 not 32Khz or 48Khz, as most likely those than don't import are encoded at...

All the mp3's that I tried to import are at 44Khz. The ones that did import are also at 44Khz, so I don't think Khz is the case here :(

Howdy and Welcome... :)

Use any type of a converter and convert the problematic MP3 files into WAV and import that WAV file into Flash to see if it makes any difference...

cool I'll try that :) I'm just worried that the wav files are going be bigger in size. I made this movie that's going to have 10 songs listed for people to listen to so I have to have all those 10 songs in 1 movie. Isn't the playlist movie going to take too long to load unlike the movie with mp3 in it?

Well... I suggested using the WAV file to see where the problem is...
No matter what type of sound file you use, 10 big sound files in one SWF is going to give bad user experience, if you ask me... I'd rather make them external if possible...

I'm having the same problem. I did find that some wav. files imported but the problem was still present with wav files. I am making games for my kindergarten class, and let's just say that when I have to import 5o+ mp3 clips ("1" "2" "3" or "A" "b" "C" for example) and 23 of them don't come through, it's frustrating! Is there a reliable way to convert sounds to Mp3's that will import?
