I've posted a whole series of new video lessons on how to make a "breakout" style game.

Scroll down past the set called "Simple Game #1" to get to the "Breakout" set. This series of videos is good for anyone interested, but especially great for people who are new to making games in flash using actionscript. You could launch your understanding way forward by checking these out. It's been a long hard road for me and I hope to save others the kind of trouble it has put me through to get this far. Enjoy, and please offer feedback if it helps. Also, I always enjoy a tip from a real guru on "better methods" for accomplishing the same sorts of things. Often a nice tip like that is just what I need to push into new ground.
Oh, and one more thing, if anyone else knows of another site where I can find free video lessons for Flash, I'd really love to know.
