Hi everyone, I was just wondering if anyone would be willing to help teach me out to do this. I want to make a preloader for loading in external files.

I came across a few tutorials but they are all using components. I want to do the same just with my own loader graphics. I very new to this so I'm sure any of your suggestions may help.

I'm working with Flash8 AS2 I guess.

I see that there are alot of function descriptions in the help files but if I don't know what function to look for then how can I find it. I tried writing some code before hand just doing that very thing.. looking through the helpfiles trying to find functions. But I never got close to retrieving my desired result. All I need it to do is run the preloader animation then switch back and forth between two scenes in the preloader animation. And show the percentage loaded. The percent loaded I want to be of the external file that is loading in. That way I don't have to make such huge flash files. Then once loaded gotoAndPlay the loaded content.

huge thanx for anyhelp,

`eff

Attach your .fla and one .swf you're loading into it...

the preloader I made is not large but the swf to be loaded is alil big. My biggest issue is just obtaining the load information for the swf being loaded. I have the swf setup to run through the animtion for the preloader then once is on the frame to load in the external file it sposed to calculate the difference from total bytes of the loading file versus the bytes alredy loaded. But I can't seem to obtain that information.

The site won't let me upload those kinds of files.

Both file (.fla & .swf) types needs to be zipped up to attach them to this forum, and each zip no larger than 500KBs... You can try to use 2 separate .zips, one for each file...

If still too large, you can use a file sharing site such as www.rapidshare.com to upload your files, and then provide here, the link to download them from there...
