View Full Version : why use actionscript file (*.as)

hello peole, i am relatively new in flash and i want to know if there any other reason why anyone will want to use an external actionscript file (*.as) except to define a class? pls anyone.

well, you can use some other IDE that's a bit smarter than the flash one (flash develop, eclipse, heck..even notepad++), or if you have a lot of classes nested in pkg's. or maybe you want to edit the code without opening flash and compile the swf from comand prompt. or maybe for no reason :)

Reusabilty and organisation. It's easier to look through a list of text files for the code you want rather than opening up different Flash files and trying to search.
