You programming in Flex right?

If you are going to use Flex AIR you cannot use javascript functions at all.

why would that I'm using flex matter? and I can use them you simply put the reference in app configuration file. what I can't seem to find is how to call functions see this example: http://www.robertnyman.com/2008/06/09/how-to-update-adobe-air-applications-automatically-with-javascript-airupdaterjs/

What I'm trying to do is write a new data-service for flex and a matching PHP class for sending AES encrypted data back and forth but the problem I can't find an AS3 cryptography that matches up with Mcrypt(). After a lot of digging I found a Javascript designed to do just that so I need to be able to run the functions in AIR apps just a as I do using External-Interface() in my Flex apps
