Component Button Issue

Hey everyone! I'm new to Flash and actionscript in general. I have a question that many will probably scoff at me for :P After adding the default button component to the stage, I double click it and proceed to edit the different "up" "down" and "over" images. If I revise the "up" image, it does not reflect in the stage when I go back to the main scene. How can I get it to update? Thanks!

not sure what you mean here, but you won't see the changes on stage until you export the file. Also, keep in mind, you have to actually click into two clips to get to the actual up state in the button component. If you click in once, you will see all the states...upon first thought, you may think you can just use a tint or something from the properties to change the color. BUT you actually need to click in a layer deeper into the up state. you will see dashed lines if you are in the correct clip. once in there, you can change the color or look. Keep in mind, this will change all instances of your button component. If you want to individualize them, you will have to do so using AS. If you mess up, and want to get back to the default, just drag a new button out from the components and replace the existing. hope that helps.
