I'd like a pair of curtains to open when a cord is pulled to introduce a title page, presumably using a drag function, but I don't know quite where to start. Can anyone help please? And I'd like it in Actionscript 3 ideally.

I have a suggestion ... A secret ... Instead of building stuff from scratch ... Just buy it ...
One of my resources... http://www.flashden.net
Selected "Files" from left menu > then > Browse Categories > then did a search ... "Curtains" > got a list of results... Selected the first in the list ( http://www.flashden.net/item/opening-curtain/14496 ) ... looks pretty cool.
For $6 you can buy it. Download the source. Create a pull-string. Add some sort of onRelease event to clicking on the pull-string that would activate the curtain animation you bought for $6
Disclaimer: I have NO business - or - professional interest - or - romantic relation with flashden.net - It's just one of my many resources (like actionscript.org). Use it or don't - I don't care. I will mention that some of the files I've bought from sites like flashden.net are great and well commented by the author. But, not all of them. So, read the reviews below the file offer to get an idea how other people found the file.
Good luck.
