I would really appreciate some constructive feedback on my portfolio site (http://www.ahrooga.com/folio) I am currently working on. This is still very much a work in progress as some things are just placeholders.

I'd like to hear your thoughts specifically on the design and the navigation.

Thanks!

1. More interactivity I'd wish... Highlight icons on the main page a bit... And I's wright illustrations and interactives... but not sure...

2. Give links to sites along with presenting print-screens. Pictures are not enough. Potential customer would like to see the actual work.

3. Never put "bla bla bla" or "text text text". Usually some philosophical text in latin is pasted.

4. I don't like scrollbars in the image gallery. It takes too much time to understand that it's scrollbar. I mean I don't say I'm stupid)))) But I'm sure common user will feel the same. And add buttons "left" and "right". Probably they are not for scrolling left or right but for understanding theat we have a scrollbar in sight, not a a black rectangle in on a white one. Common user is tought to control everything with standard controls of his/her operating system. Why do you think he(she) should learn some new one just to look your prortfolio. No, he(she) shouldn't. Standard interfaces should nt be spoilt. But can be customized to match the site design and both to stay recogniable. This is a rule!

5. Generally looks nice... But I feel a lack of something... More to work on...

I've made some updates to the site (http://www.ahrooga.com/folio) and fleshed out the actual folio content. I've decided to pull the red gradient into the center rather than filling the entire screen. I've adjusted the fonts and removed drop shadows and blur to improve performance and I've also added sound.

I've removed the horizontal scrollbar in favour of scrolling based on mouse position.

I still need to add rollover effects to the initial 3 folders. These will animate when rolled on and off.

Again, any comments and critiques are most appreciated.

1. Icons on main page still don't highlight on mouse over.

2. Layout is liquid, this is very nice, I love it)

Now the site looks better... But still it's some sort of... too laconic. Well, probably that was the thing to show how clear and easy your style is) You know, some designers make their site full of different interactive things to show off for a potential customer... It's more a question of taste i think...

On first inspection, the website seems to have little to offer. Although some people might beg to differ, I'd rather have something more than 3 buttons on the front page. (Others call it elegant minimalism, but its just a point of view).

On another note, your site is a whole lot better than nakedkafka's portfolio site, it seems more well thought and fleshed out, although it still doesn't feel right for some reason, I think it may just be the way you place your content. You could try placing your three main buttons on the side for immediate access no matter where the viewer is at, instead on making close their current window, as anyone who wants to close their current window would obviously want to navigate to any of the other two sections. Right?

Hope my idea helps.

Yep... I like it very much. it's well presented and slick to use.

I think the three sections is fine. I see no point in putting more sections or buttons there just for the sake of it... it would be obvious you'd done that and would be poor design, imo.

I agree that having to close the window via the [x] button is a minor irritation. Would it be possible to close it on a click anywhere on the window? There's no other interactivity there. That would make it really quick and easy to open an image view it and then close it again in a moment... much better useability.

Like that... nice one.
