hi guys! :)
im tryin to place a flv on my stage as a background for a site: i import it and then i set the alpha to "30" and the blending mode on "overlay".
the video is veeeeeery slow :( and it slow down the entire site...
is a 1280x720px video...with a low framerate and bitrate.

anyone can suggest me how can i embed this flv in the timeline without compromise the speed of the swf?
for example the frame rate of the flv and the swf fps, the bitrate etc..

thanksa lot :)
and sorry for bad english, i'm italian!

I like to play

Hi, both setting the alpha and adding a blend mode is VERY heavt for the CPU. If you want to speed up your performance you need to make the video smaller (in pixels) or remove the alpha and/or blendmode.

is this also true for local FLV playback? for example in a Mac projector file?

Especially the blendmode. Blendmode + Alpha = Even Worse.

I think unless its really necessary, remove the alpha, I mean the overlay effect already gives the illusion of a low alpha layered over right?

You should do the alpha part in a video editing software first, then when you use overlay, it may not lag as much.

But, yes, overlay + alpha = CPU killer

Wait, I just thought of a compromize, reduce the resolution of your flv. It might work out depending on your situation.

if possible, just do the entire thing in a video editing program such as premiere then no lag

But what if he wants it to be blending against stage elements using a overlay in Flash? He'll still have to do it in Flash, so reducing the bitrate and resolution might just be the best compromize.
