Flash in E-mail

I have a client who is, in her words,

"...looking to have a Christmas greeting animation done in Flash as an e-mail attachment that automatically opens when the e-mail is received."

Doing the Flash is fine but I have no idea how to go about making it open automatically when the e-mail is received.

Would I need to create 2 projectors for Mac & PC? If so how would I make it open automatically, cross platform?

Any thoughts on how to approach it and the issues involved much appreciated.
