i hit some keys by accident and it turned on these extra characters in my actions window. for every space there was now there is a bullet. also a tab is replaced with ">>" and a return has a paragraph character. HOW DO I TURN THIS OFF? ITS KILLING ME!!!!!!

The feature is called "Hidden Characters". (Command-Shift-8)
The setting is located at the top-right corner of the actions panel, in the little pulldown menu.
